Kingsley Faber asked:

Free online games are fast turning into a major form of entertainment not only for the younger generation but for the grown-ups as well. It’s because these types of games are not only addictive, they’re amazingly free.

Anyone can have fun with any of these addictive free online games. A recent research had determined that as much as 2/3 of online players were between 8 to 21 years old and fourteen percent are more than thirty-five years old. Thus, no matter how old you are, you can still have fun playing online games.

To answer the wide clientele base, creators of online games have developed various types of games covering all genres from action, board, cards, and the most famous adventure games.

Other online gaming sites though cover a wide range of categories in their games–shooting games, role-playing games, puzzles, adventure, to mention a few.

The best part of playing these free online games is that the player can choose when to play. Although these games are primarily to have fun, there are others that will practically rack your brains. One of the free online strategy games is Sudoku which has easy-to-follow rules and yet requires complex reasoning to play the game. There are also the free online jigsaw puzzle games that are fun to try on your spare time.

Among the free games on the Internet, free online arcade games are the easiest to have fun since the games are already laid out for you. Another popular game is role-playing game or RPG wherein the player can imagine that he or she is a part of the game or the gamer can play with or against other players in the game. Several platforms have a rating system which further enhances the experience of the visitors. To add to this, detailed comments can be said about the games on several websites. When you’re not yet done with the game and you want to finish it at a later time, you can save the link to one of your browser’s favorites so that you do not have to go through the countless number of links in order to get to your favorite game.

Because some platforms are offering multiplayer games, chatrooms have been created in order for the gamers to talk about the game they have played or a newly released game. Again Gamerevolt.com is one such platform. A chatroom is similar to a social gathering of free online gaming.

Some even go as far as provide more content like game cheats to their guests. This consists of Game Boy cheats, PS2 game cheats, Xbox game cheats, and cheats for other platforms.

The future of online gaming looks promising as recent developments have been made making online gaming more popular and more fun to play.

Roberto Sedycias asked:

In today`s techno-savvy scenario, the technology is evolving faster than we can imagine. The gaming consoles are the ultimate choice of many irrespective of the gender and age. Especially, the kids and teenagers are quick at learning and adopting new video games that hit the market every season. This is precisely what has made Playstation2 a revolution in the market. Every serious gamer swears by its performance and features. Today, when video game has created its own place in the heart of every child, new versions of games are being introduced at regular intervals and getting popular if they work well.

One of the most significant aspects of video game consoles is that these gaming consoles are hitting the market with their new versions that adds to the exciting experience to the gamers. Playstation2, the advanced entertainment system in the world of video games allows people from any age group out into the world of fancy.

Playstation2, the successor of playstation, is one of the best primary home console systems. It is all about games; it is the gamers` game system. Every game lover is differently motivated to buy game systems; some like the picture quality, some like it to be least expensive, some like the widest selection. Overall they want is to have fun. With PS2, the first rating gaming console, the fun that you get is the best argument for its reviews say plastation2 is the best library of games.

While purchasing PS2, most people might be ignoring about the multitasking ability if the device. Besides gaming playstation2 can give you the home-theater flexibility. It has got a composite a/v cord that is used to connect the console of the TV. When installed into a home theater it displays high-quality sound and comparatively sharp picture. And to add to it, your playstation2 can be used as a DVD player. So there is no room for doubt about the incredible popularity of the gaming console. Whereas PS2 has made millions of children escape into the world of fantasy, the versatility of the system is what that has made it suitable for all.

If you are interested to take home a playstation2 you can purchase it from your local store or order it online. But it is always important to notice some of the things that are quite essential to consider while making investment on a playstation2 because selecting the right gaming console may be somewhat confusing. Judge the age group to which the player belongs. But, the main focus should be on graphical capabilities, in-game physic and playing the game. However, only Sony has currently dominated the market with its playstation2. With the new slim design version of PS2 you can get built-in optional modem and broadband adaptor that allows internet gaming.

You cannot find any other gaming console as entertaining as PS2. so, the playstation2 that you are purchasing needs to have most extensive range of gaming software. Now, Sony has created its fame by supplying the largest units to the market. Again you choose your PS2 that can serve as a DVD player.

When you are purchasing PS2 consider of taking PS2 game cheats. Every PS2 game has a unique game cheat that depends on the game you play. It is important as it allows the gamer to optimize the time and level of the game. By this way you can prolong the life of the character you are playing or you can finish the desired level in a given time without any difficulty. Last but not the least, whatever videogame system you are buying check for the list of games available. You can get games belonging to variety of platforms. But there is no use of the console if you are not able to play the game of your choice.

Before You Buy A Video Game - Cheat!

Robert Rogers asked:

Cheaters never win and winners never cheat. When it comes to video game cheats, however, cheating really means shortcuts, tips, tricks, and extras.
Some of you may have fond memories of Pong, Battlezone, and Asteroids. I know I’ve spent my entire week’s allowance every Saturday and the local arcade. In all honesty, I still play these games today on my pc. They offer the simplistic arcade action that some of us crave.
Today’s video games have gotten so complicated that entire books for a single game title have been written on how to finish them. The graphics, strategies, and multiplayer online aspects have taken video gaming to a whole new level. To be honest, it’s rare that I can even finish a game anymore, let alone win all the bonus cars or cool weapons.
After playing for a few hours I’ll often get stuck. Either I can’t finish a level or can’t find the special weapons to defeat the boss. If it weren’t for cheat codes, I’d probably just give up. Never enjoying the full potential game play, never getting my money’s worth. Even on the easiest settings, it’s almost impossible to finish a game anymore without cheating.
So before I buy any game, I’ll go online and check out the latest reviews, graphics, and best price. But I’m also looking to see if they have a walk through, cheats, and extras. You’ll usually find these written up by the professional paid reviewers, but don’t forget to check out the player reviews and forum. Sometimes the actual gamers will find even more cheats and extras that the professional reviewers missed.
No matter how good the preview is I want to see what the end users are actually saying. Also, no matter how bad the professional review is, I want to see what the actual gamers are saying. I can tell you that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed games that scored very low with the professional reviewers. After reviewing the gamer’s scores, I found they often enjoyed games much more than the professional reviews would lead you to believe.
Also check out your local video game store, ask the sales people what they think of the games. I found most of them are big time game players too and will give you an honest answer. We gamers need to look out for each other, don’t we?

Tips For Setting Video Game Guidelines For Your Children

Lily Morgan asked:

Setting guidelines for video games can be difficult. Most kids would play for hours - at least until the bathroom or the refrigerator calls them away. So how do you determine what is fair and safe for your child?

Time Limits

Your child may prefer to spend every waking moment plugged into a video game console, but healthy kids need a balanced schedule. Homework, chores, outdoor play, and family time need to take precedence over video games. Video games are a reward for completing tasks. Set a time limit for each day’s maximum gaming time.

A good guideline for children aged 5-10 is 30-60 minutes a day, with a few extra minutes allowed on weekends. Up to two hours per day is appropriate for teens and pre-teens, as long as homework and chores are completed.

An egg timer is a good tool for tracking game time. The timer begins once play starts. When the bell sounds, the child must save and exit the game immediately. Parents may be tempted to allow the child to finish the current game or level when the alarm sounds, but some children are crafty. They take advantage of this lenience to extend playing time.

Monitoring Video Game Content

A standardized rating system tags each video game to levels of appropriateness for different age ranges. This rating system is a general guideline only. Just because a game is rated “E” for everyone does not mean the game is free of offensive language, actions and themes.

Each family must decide what is unacceptable. Discuss and draft these family guidelines with your children. Spell out clear consequences for violating guidelines. These guidelines apply to the child whether the game is played at home or at a friend’s house, as well as when other children bring games into your home.

If you are unsure of a video game, rent the game and play it when the child is not present to preview the content. Most salespersons at gaming stores are very knowledgeable of many of the games they sell. They can usually tell you if a particular game violates your family’s guidelines. You can also check the annual Video Game Report Card produced by the National Institute on Media and the Family. The Entertainment Software Rating Board website contains in-depth information about the video game rating system as well.

One of the best ways to monitor your child’s video game habits is to play with them. Plug in an extra controller once a week and spend a few minutes appreciating your child’s video game skills. This can be a period of bonding even into the troublesome teenage years.

Video games do have some redeeming qualities. They are entertaining for your child, encourage fantasy play, build imagination, increase eye/hand coordination, teach strategy, and can be educational. They also teach younger children to share, lose, and win gracefully. Time spent with a video game controller also strengthens the small muscles in a child’s hands, resulting in better handwriting and small motor control.

Video games are a popular pastime for children, but they require parental supervision the same as other areas of your child’s life. Become involved, get informed, set limits, and reap the benefits of your child’s love of video gaming.

Home-game Cheating Awareness, Part II : Other Cheating Methods

M.J. Morgan asked:

Our 4-part article series will offer you an extensive guide to detecting the different ways cheaters may invade and clean up your home poker nights, even if they are friends or acquaintances you have trusted over the years. If you read our first article, you will now be more wary of dealing irregularities; now read on to find out other methods used at home games.
Collusion:
Requiring minimal skill and preparation, collusion is definitely the most used and the easiest way to cheat. It consists of an agreement between two or more players to signal each other at different times of the game how their poker hands are standing and when winning, they split the pot between them.
Maneuvers: Each player agrees on discreetly giving each other signals about the strength of their hands, and when one of them is dealing, the other distracts the other players. Some of the signals to share hand information involves turning the cards faced down after dealing outwards, thus showing their numbers in a split second, but if paying attention, the colluding players can see the cards. In addition, the colluding players may agree to speak using a code that is imperceptible to the other players.
Angling:
Although allowed in some casinos, angling consists of acting when it is not the player’s turn, thus influencing the other players’ actions, and when it is finally the player’s turn, taking back the anticipated action, thus affecting the others’ fate in the hand. Players who use angling are called “angle shooters” and some say it is more unethical than plain cheating.
Marked Cards:
Cards can be marked obviously, noticeably up close, or imperceptibly. In order to mark the poker cards, the cheating player has to own the deck or have at least plenty of private time with it before playing.
For vigilant players, card markings can be classified in 4 types:
Shading. Manipulation of the card design with very fine ink applied with extreme precision, making it almost imperceptible.
Daubing. Available in magic stores, a special ink only visible with special sunglasses is applied to the marked cards, and the cheater plays the poker game wearing the glasses.
Corner Crimp. The cheating player peeks at the wanted card (top or bottom) and discreetly pushes it a small distance away from the rest of the cards, subtly bends the corner closest to the thumb or index finger. The cheat can do this with all aces or kings.
Thumbnailing. This technique consists of inserting the thumb nail inside one of the edges of the card, barely splitting the card but leaving a mark that is visible to the trained eye.
Misrepresentation of a Hand:
Also called bad calling, a cheat misrepresents a hand by reveling it at showdown but calling it something better than what it is. If unnoticed by the rest of the players, the cheat gets the money; if caught, he/she will innocently pretend to have made a mistake and laugh it off. If not careful, too many of these mistakes can reveal the true agenda of the cheat.
Pot interaction:
Cheating can very easily occur when putting money into the pot or “making change” off of it, which can allow the cheat to take small but frequent amounts of money that favor his/her bankroll.
To avoid inappropriate handling of the pot, players should keep track of the expected pot amount. If the amount is less than expected, each player’s bankroll must be counted.
Prepared Deck:
A cheat can prepare a deck by putting the wanted cards in strategic places before shuffling, and the cheat would usually say the deck has already been shuffled. This trick is frequently used in angling. The most basic deck-preparing includes cards whose back designs are not symmetric, and if the position of the design of some cards differs from the others that will help the cheater figure out which cards those are during the game. However, if he players move the cards or the deck is shuffled again before the next hand, the cheating would lose its course.
Phony Chips:
After a player purchased phony $100 chips from the Rio souvenir shop during the 2005 WSOP, the chips were used by that player for the tournaments, and since then, it has been a cheating trend. The red engraving that identifies a chip as an official WSOP chip is not easily visible in all chips, especially when stacked up, which confuses them with fake ones.
Players may bring phony chips or steal them from previous games and introduce them to the game. In order to avoid this, the host must be very protective of his/her chips and when possible try to purchase unique-looking chips, different from standard color denominations, and keep them locked at all times. The game should be played with the house chips and no one should be allowed to bring their own; unique-looking chips prevent phony chips from being secretly introduced in the game.
Learning about all the ways you can expect a cheat player to boycott your home game creates awareness about how deceitful some of your acquaintances can be. However, detecting cheating and demanding justice in a home game can be difficult and challenging. In our next article, we will show you the ways you can protect your home from poker cheats.

Some video game systems purely focus on gaming while others offer more sophisticated multimedia capabilities such as music and movie playback. When deciding what type of video game system to buy, consider portability, the age of gamers in the household, and multimedia features.
Choose a Video Game Console
The latest batch of 2005 and 2006 video game consoles represent another quantum leap forward in video game graphics, online play, and functionality. Microsoft launched Xbox 360 in November 2005. Sony and Nintendo will introduce new systems in 2006, hoping to make a splash with PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Revolution. They aim to satisfy hardcore gamers with an intense craving for cutting-edge technology, superior graphics, new peripherals, a richer online experience, more multimedia functionality than their predecessors, and advanced game play options (such as game downloads).

How to Get Paid to Test Video Games

M Wilson asked:

The video game industry has exploded in the last decade. Video games are not just for kids and teenagers any more. More adults than ever and even seniors are now playing video games. The video game industry has exploded into a multi billion dollar industry in a very short amount of time and is showing no signs of slowing down.Even in tough economic times video game sales keep growing. When people are laid off and stuck at home they need something to do. That’s just more demand for video games. After playing a game for a while it doesn’t take long before people have to have something better and most will find a way to buy the latest release. This demand is so huge that video game producers are having a difficult time keeping up and hiring enough employees to meet the demand.  One of the easiest positions to get into in the video game industry is being a tester for new products. Often times when a game is released the programmers are in such a rush to make the deadline that they are sometimes released with bugs and errors. Because of this there is an increasing demand for people who are willing to get paid to test video games.Testers who get paid to test video games are sent new releases free so they can play the games just like they would for their own entertainment. Then they log any problems they find and send the list to the company. Different people play games differently so some people may miss an error that another person might catch. And the programmers have had their heads buried in the program for months so they are not very objective and are likely to overlook a lot of things. So what the video game producers need is many testers who will play the game at home just like someone would do in the real world. Testing by average every day users playing at home provides a more real world experience where the errors are more likely to happen and less likely to be overlooked. For people who love to play video games being a video game tester from home can be an excellent opportunity. The Downside Of Becoming Game Tester

Sean Tan asked:

Getting to be a Video Game Tester seems to be the better profession in the world currently after all, which other profession allows you to gain for what the whole world enjoys doing? If you are a Video Game Tester, apparently all you have to do is to play games for many hours a day, and get paid for reporting bugs and other flaws in the game. Does anything get rosier than that?

I am talking about sites that offer people to test games from the luxuries of their homes. This site offers people from all over the world to take the occasion of being a Video Game Tester. To be able to do this, people have to buy a membership on this site, which costs somewhere about $60. However, there are always some discount offers going on here, and then the membership is a lifetime membership. And then, on paying this amount, the people stands to earn anywhere between $10 and $80 per hour, and apparently just by playing games.

It seems too good to be true. But then, anything that is too good to be true usually isn’t. Being a Video Game Tester is touted to be a very highly paying job that anyone can do, but it isn’t by any means a simple job. There is indeed a lot of effort to be put in.

First and foremost, the prospect of playing games throughout the day may sound alluring at first, but believe me you, there is nothing more taxing than playing video games if you are doing it day in and day out. Playing video games round the clock may entice perhaps some video game freaks, but not the general population. And then, you would have to play a wide variety of games, including some downright gook. You have to be ready for that. A Video Game Tester cannot be a chooser. They have to play whatever game they manage to get, and have to see it through the end.

And remember, the job is for a Video Game Tester, not a video game player. That means, you will have to analyze and scrutinize every minor aspect of the game. Every bug will need to be reported, and even the errors in graphic will wants to be told. Doing this verbally is indeed a taxing thing to do.

Playing the game itself could be a difficult job to do. How often do we browse for walkthroughs and even game cheats when playing But, for a game that you are testing, there will be no such information. You will have to finish the game in most cases, without any assistance and only then are you eligible for payment. If you are not able to complete a level, there goes your money.

For some of us, there is also the question of job satisfaction to be taken into account. Okay, you are getting a fat check at the end of it all, but how much creativity are you using? Are you producing anything? These questions do rankle some hardcore professionals. Playing games is not looked upon as work, and Video Game Testers are sometimes looked upon as unemployed folk.

Finally, you must beware of all such Video Game Tester job sites on the net. There are lots of scams here, especially since they require to make a payment upfront. It is always good to go ahead on the recommendation of someone who has been in the field.

The Ins and Outs of Game Cheats

Jessica Kosinski asked:

Author: Jessica Kosinski November 21, 2008 The Ins and Outs of Game Cheats There’s always been a debate over whether or not to use game cheats, ever since video games have existed. What exactly is a game cheat? Who uses them and why? Is it good or bad to use them? Well, first of all, game cheats are basically any sort of hidden thing to do in a game that you can look up and then do to either get to a secret area, find a secret item or maybe just become invincible so you can get past an area where you’re stuck. Game codes and game cheats are kind of similar, except game codes are usually a series of buttons to push on a console game controller in order to get extra ammo, extra lives or other extra bonuses. Game cheats, on the other hand, might be something like “Go to area X. Talk to person C before person B. Then, go back to person B and talk. Person B will now have a hidden mission for you.” Then there are game walkthroughs. Game walkthroughs are not the same as game cheats. Game walkthroughs are, however, step by step instructions on how to play a certain game. If you play a game by the walkthrough you’ll be sure not to miss anything, but you won’t ever be surprised. On the other hand, you might want a walkthrough only if you get stuck somewhere. So who uses all of these? Well, people who want to play by the book and not miss anything or people who just can’t get past that one certain spot in a game might use a walkthrough. Some people actually finish the game once on their own and then read a walkthrough to see what they missed and then replay the game, too. Game codes, meanwhile, are mostly used by console gamers who just want to fly through a game. Sometimes it’s just nice to do something to say you’ve done it. For instance, your game might have a code that turns your character’s clothing another color. It doesn’t advance the plot, but it can be cool. Game cheats, though, are a whole other story. There are lots of people that use them and they use them for many different reasons. Sometimes they use them right from the beginning to make sure they unlock all the secrets in a game. Sometimes they go back and replay the game using cheats later. Whatever the reason, there’s an endless debate on whether or not game cheats spoil the experience. Personally, I don’t usually approve of game cheats. There are certain situations where I use them, though. For instance, when I play the Sims, I often use a cheat to get more cash, because my Sim is often broke. I also enjoy building ultimate Sim houses, so I often use a cheat that lets me build outside my lot boundaries. Some game cheats really can spoil the story for you. So, just be aware before you use them. The bottom line is, though, if you like using them, go for it. If you don’t, don’t bother. It’s entirely up to you. They can be helpful or they can spoil the whole experience. It depends on how you feel about them and what you want to use them for.

E3 2008 Microsoft Press Conference Thoughts

July 15, 2008 · Filed Under Articles, News, PC, Xbox 360 · Comment

Xbox 360Here we are at E3 time again. Microsoft once again started the show with their press conference, and pretty much anything would be better than last year’s snooze fest at the high school. Thankfully, this year was hosted at E3, but was it any better?

The press conference kicked off with a great start. We got trailers & gameplay from Fable 2, Fallout 3, Gears of War 2 & Resident Evil 5, which were nice, but not a whole lot we hadn’t seen before. Getting a look at Fallout 3 actually being played was comforting to see they pulled it off right. Bethesda seems to be trying to make a game for everyone, AND they may just actually be able to pull it off. Play it in first person, third person, as a shooter, as a thief, with real-time combat or strategic targeting. It all seemed to work nicely in the demo.

After those game, at only a few small points in the presentation did the audience even clap and applaud a little bit, much less enthusiastically. Those brief moments were at the announcement of Portal: Still Alive, RockBand 2 offerings (including Guns and Roses, AC/DC and Metallica), and Square Enix announcing Final Fantasy XIII for the 360. Basically PC gaming got the shaft. Oh wait… I think they might have mentioned Fallout 3 was also PC. It was hard to tell, I kept nodding off.

The rest of the time was basically summed up as blah, blah, ugh, blah, ugh, ugh, blah! Seriously.

I think Microsoft was thinking their big announcement was the Mii-vatars, no Ava-Miis, no Wii-60 Avatars. Something like that. Just imagine your Nintendo Miis created by Rare for the Xbox 360. Oh, and steal the interface from the iPod/iPhone, and viola, you have the new 360 dashboard and Avatars. Beyond that, you have brand new party games that have been done before like Sing Star, wait I mean Lips.

NetflixBut hands down, the best part about their conference actually had NOTHING to do with gaming. Netflix is teaming up with Microsoft to add their streaming library to the 360 for subscribers! Now that’s awesome, and I can’t wait to stream movies through my Xbox 360.

And speaking of the Xbox 360, I found this awesome site that has a guide on how to fix the Red Ring of Death! Click Here to check it out!
