Is there something like a brute force attack to discover game cheats?

OK what if the game developers didn’t leak all the cheats of a PC game and no one found the missing ones? Is there some brute force attack through which other cheats can be discovered? Or something like scanning the program’s programming?
No, it’s not about changing the value of something in the game, but rather about finding where is it programmed that if I type certain cheat then something will happen. E.g. in a game you type sky291 and the sky turns purple.

If you simply want to give yourself more lives, or more money, you can use a hex editor. It’s the same system that Game Genies or Action Replays use.

Try, and just search the game for the value it is at the moment (E.g. 3 Lives), then filter the results as the number varies (Up from 3 to 4).
Eventually, you will be left with 1 hex value. That value will be the ‘Lives’ number coded into the game. Then you can just change the number to whatever you like!
