Pokerstars is Cheating Me - Have You Ever Wondered?

Sean Moronse asked:

Ever been in a Pokerstars game, get bad beats consecutively, and think Pokerstars is cheating me? Well, you aren’t the only one. Whether you were a constant gambler in real life to begin with or you just fancied poker as your online leisurely activity, perhaps everyone who has ever played poker on the largest online poker room in the world has thought “Damn, Pokerstars is cheating me.” How feasible is this thought, and how can you find out? In truth the probability of this is pretty slim. Many, and I mean many, people have had their doubts and most definitely complaints of how Pokerstars outright rigs games or assigns random (or at times) selective handicaps to players. Try searching Google for forums and forum threads about this issue and you’ll find a wide and deep range of claims, complaints, and presented evidence justifying the poster’s feeling that “Pokerstars is cheating me.” The thing is, the evidence presented in these forums lack the credibility to match the claim, most of the time at least. Clashing hard evidence to hard evidence, statistic to statistic, and data to data, the side that says Pokerstars is rigged or cheating on them loses out eventually. Pokerstars has officially raised and proclaimed that on their part everything is clean and organized-but of course, understandably, many players-especially the losing ones-would take this with a grain of salt. But sometimes bad beats just keep piling up like something somewhere wants you to lose, and what else is there to blame? The mere fact that everything about Pokerstars is online and can be manipulated or programmed would entice someone to think “Pokerstars is cheating me” or “Pokerstas is rigged.” True enough, many under the table events are possible in the World Wide Web, and it’s only natural that something as akin to cheating as gambling-especially the all too popular poker-would be subject to more than the usual claims of unfairness. Cheating has become part of gambling, and in all gambling games cheating tactics or patterns have been established. Thinking on it though, would Pokerstars risk what they’ve accomplished to get more than the millions of dollars of revenue they already get out of ‘legitimate’ gambling over the internet? Well, it is gambling, and the successful gamblers know the rewards of risk. And only a brush with a bad beat is all it takes for someone to think “Pokerstars is cheating me.” In a game that calls for tried and tested, proven approaches and styles to playing, when someone who’s given it all he’s got still loses, maybe the only thing to blame is luck, or lack of it, in that case. But as long as there’s something else to point fingers at, fingers will always be pointed, eyebrows will always be raised, and debate will always ensue. As it stands, the best dedicated poker player can do is enhance his game not only in real life poker, but also in the online arena that’s taken over and changed (or maybe rendered useless) the term poker face.
